Chad LaRose will make his NHL debut tonight. He is replacing the injured Andrew Ladd, who is expected to miss six to eight weeks after having surgery Monday in Raleigh to repair torn cartilage in his right knee. LaRose, 23, was one of Carolina's final cuts at the end of training camp and has 25 points in 23 minor-league games this fall. He practiced Monday with Eric Staal and Erik Cole. ... Oleg Tverdovsky (post-concussion syndrome) and Ray Whitney (groin) could return in limited roles as well. ... Carolina has lost five of its past eight games in regulation, allowing 38 goals over that span. ... Rod Brind'Amour has a five-game assist streak.
The Mighty Ducks have won four in a row, including a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday, outscoring their opponents 14-4. Andy McDonald leads Anaheim with two goals and three assists during the streak. ...
